filed under Park Jin Young woke up a couple of mornings ago, and realized, SM Entertainment is monopolizing the Chinese music industry with Super Junior-M, who have sold thousands of CD’s to date. Never a man to admit defeat, JYP sent his little divas into the cloning machine and zapped out a whole new group: The Chinese version of Wonder Girls!
At an entertainment event, he stated that this group is being trained and will debut in China in the near future.
I know China with it’s billion plus Chinese people sounds like a giant market too lucrative to ignore, but a quick stroll on a typical street would make this abundantly clear: no one buys legit music over there. While boy groups like DBSK and Super Junior have at least their loyal fan bases who are willing to shell out their allowances for over-priced goods, a girl group will definitely not fare as well.
It looks like Wonder Girls 2.0’s future is going to be about as bright as an average London morning: gray and depressing.
